GreenRef

Project long title

Evaluation of potential technologies for the reduction of CO2 emissions for the production of refractory materials

Project description

The ceramics industry produces CO2 through both the combustion of energy sources and the calcination of carbonate raw materials, thus contributing to the anthropogenic greenhouse effect. The storage and utilization of CO2 through carbonation represents a promising approach to solving this problem. Within the GreenRef project, several chairs of the University of Leoben are working together with the client, RHI Magnesita, on technologies for the carbonation of mineral raw materials from primary and secondary sources.
