RecyMin
Project long title
Recycling of synthetic mineral fibers
Project description
Synthetic mineral fibers (SMF) accrue during demolition of buildings as wastes. Due to their unfavorable landfill mechanical properties disposal of SMF on landfills constitutes a problem. The project RecyMin therefore deals with the recycling of SMF.
Aims of the project
The project RecyMin comprises several approaches:
- Further development of existing concepts for conditioning SMF for landfilling by comminution and agglomeration;
- Further development of existing concepts to develop a backfill material from SMF for underground mining;
- Development of a concept to use SMF as substitute raw material and/or clinker additive in the cement industry;
- Development of a concept to recycle SMF in the stone/glass wool industry.
